The Love of Local Color and Light!

Artist Claudia Mapes is a California native. She simply loves painting the local color and light of our area. She enjoys painting the landscape in watercolor, acrylic, pastel and oils.
Claudia has continued studying art and painting her surroundings in various places she has lived which include: California, Idaho, South Dakota, Washington and Hawaii. She was especially attracted to the Big Island of Hawaii with its beautiful tropical flowers and warm friendly people. The rich colors of the islands were captured in watercolor, acrylic, and pastel paintings which she displayed and sold at Dreams of Paradise Gallery in Hilo, Hawaii as well as The Gallery in the Hilton Waikoloa Village Resort. Returning to the Central Coast of California in 2007, Claudia is savoring all the latest developments with a rich color palette, and a fresh eye.

Claudia is currently teaching a Paint and Sip class on a regular basis at the tasting room of
Kula Vineyards & Winery, 5990 Estrada Avenue, Atascadero, CA.
